Organized beekeeping as you might know goes back to the ancient Egyptians. But did you know the city of Rome is inundated with bee structures?
The Barberini bees: The Barberini family's coat of arms consisted of an image of three bees and consequently Barberini palaces, churches, and fountains were decorated by bee sculptures which you can currently see if you walk the streets of Rome. I never knew this and was fascinated by these sculptures during my recent trip to this ancient city.
